Michigan Adds Over 1,800 New Coronavirus Cases, 43 Deaths

More than 152,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Michigan.

MICHIGAN — More than 152,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Michigan, state health officials said Thursday.

The state added 1,873 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing Michigan's overall case total to 152,862. Health officials also reported 43 more COVID-19 deaths — 31 of which were identified through vital records review — increasing the number of coronavirus deaths in Michigan to 7,129.

Michigan surpassed 150,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. As of last week, nearly 110,000 people in the state had recovered from the virus, officials said Saturday.

According to the World Health Organization, Michigan is 17th in the U.S. in reported COVID-19 cases. The state is also 10th in the nation in reported deaths.

More than 8.6 million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. The nation has seen more than 227,000 people die from the coronavirus, while more than 5.6 million people in the U.S. have recovered from the coronavirus.

Over 41.8 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. That includes more than 1.1 million deaths and over 31 million COVID-19 recoveries.
