Michigan Coronavirus Cases Top 130,000 Wednesday

More than 130,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Michigan. COVID-19 deaths in the state have exceeded 6,800.

MICHIGAN — More than 130,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Michigan as of Wednesday morning, according to the most recent data provided by state health officials.

Michigan reported 1,016 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, increasing the number of confirmed cases in the state to 130,842. Health officials also reported nine more COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 6,847.

On Tuesday, Michigan added nearly 1,000 new COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths. As of Saturday, nearly 100,000 people in Michigan had recovered from the virus, officials said.

Michigan is 17th in the U.S. in reported COVID-19 cases, according to data gathered and provided by the World Health Organization. The state ranks 10th in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.

More than 7.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S. as of Wednesday, according to the World Health Organization. COVID-19 deaths have exceeded 216,000 in the U.S., which leads the world in both reported cases and reported deaths. The U.S. is closing in on 5 million COVID-19 recoveries.

According to the World Health Organization, over 36.2 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide. That number includes more than 1 million COVID-19 deaths and more than 27.3 million recoveries. Nearly 8 million cases of the virus remain active.
