Michigan Reports 2,015 New Coronavirus Cases Friday

Michigan reported more than 2,000 new cases of the coronavirus for the second straight day Friday.

MICHIGAN — A day after chalking a record high increase in coronavirus cases to a data processing error, Michigan again reported a record number of new coronavirus cases.

Michigan added 2,015 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, bringing its statewide case total to 143,106. The state also reported 14 more COVID-19 deaths, increasing the state's coronavirus death toll to 6,987.

Michigan reported its highest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases on Thursday, adding more than 2,030 new cases. But officials said late Thursday that the high number was due to a data processing issue from Wednesday evening, meaning some of the cases reported Thursday should have been reported Wednesday instead.
