Michigan Reports 2nd Highest Coronavirus Increase Wednesday

MICHIGAN — Michigan on Wednesday reported its second highest single-day increase of new coronavirus cases.

State health officials reported 3,271 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, an increase that brought Michigan's overall case total to 167,545. Michigan also added 18 more COVID-19 deaths, bringing the coronavirus death toll in the state to 7,257.

Michigan added over 2,300 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, a day after it reported more than 6,000 new cases had been reported over a four-day stretch. Nearly 115,000 people in the state have recovered from the coronavirus, according to state health officials.

Michigan ranks 15th in the U.S. in reported cases of the coronavirus, according to the World Health Organization. The state is 10th in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.
