Michigan Reports 6,008 New Coronavirus Cases, 42 Deaths Wednesday
More than 229,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Michigan, officials said.
MICHIGAN — Michigan added more than 6,000 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, according to state health officials.
The state reported 6,008 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Michigan to 229,285. Michigan also added 42 more COVID-19 deaths, increasing the death toll in the state to 7,766.
The state reported a record single-day increase of 6,473 new cases on Tuesday. Health officials reported Saturday that nearly 129,000 people in the state have recovered from the virus.

Michigan is 14th in the U.S. in reported COVID-19 cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state is also 10th in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.

More than 10.6 million coronavirus cases have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. Over 246,000 people in the U.S. have reportedly died from the coronavirus, while more than 6.6 million people in the nation have recovered from the virus.
According to the World Health Organization, over 52.2 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide. That number includes more than 1.2 million deaths attributed to the coronavirus and over 36.5 million COVID-19 recoveries.
