Michigan Reports 6,709 New Coronavirus Cases Over Past 2 Days

The more than 6,700 cases are what the state said has been reported since Saturday.

MICHIGAN — Michigan has added more than 6,700 new cases of the coronavirus since Saturday, according to state health officials.

The state reported Monday that 6,709 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Michigan since Saturday, bringing the overall number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state to 184,889. Health officials also reported 17 more COVID-19 deaths, bringing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 7,357.

On Saturday, the state reported its highest single-day increase in coronavirus cases, adding more than 3,700 cases. More than 121,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the coronavirus, state health officials said Saturday.

Michigan is 14th in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state is 10th in the nation in reported coronavirus deaths.

More than 9.4 million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. Of those, over 236,000 have reportedly resulted in death, while more than 6.1 million resulted in recovery.

According to the World Health Organization, over 47 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide. That number includes more than 1.2 million COVID-19 deaths as well as over 33.8 million recoveries from the virus.
