Michigan Reports Another Single-Day Coronavirus Increase Record

MICHIGAN — Michigan has broken another single-day record for new coronavirus cases reported in the state.

Health officials on Thursday said that 6,940 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Michigan, bringing the statewide case total to 236,225. Michigan also reported 45 more COVID-19 deaths, increasing the death toll in the state to 7,811.

The state added 6,008 new cases on Wednesday. As of Friday, the state had reported that nearly 129,000 people in the state have recovered from the virus.

According to the World Health Organization, Michigan is 14th in the U.S. in reported COVID-19 cases. That state ranks 10th in reported COVID-19 deaths.

In the U.S., more than 10.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, according to the World Health Organization. That includes over 247,000 deaths reported to be attributed to the virus, and more than 6.6 million COVID-19 recoveries.

Over 52.8 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. Nearly 1.3 million COVID-19 deaths have been reported around the world, while the number of COVID-19 recoveries worldwide has surpassed 36.8 million.
