Michigan Reports Record 8,516 New Coronavirus Cases Friday
Michigan also added 118 new COVID-19 deaths Friday, increasing the number of coronavirus deaths in the state to 7,929.
MICHIGAN — Michigan shattered its single-day record of new coronavirus cases Friday, reporting more than 8,500 new cases of the virus.
The state reported 8,516 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Michigan to 244,741. Michigan also added 118 new COVID-19 deaths Friday, increasing the number of coronavirus deaths in the state to 7,929. Officials said 83 of the deaths were identified during a Vital Records review.
The record the state broke Friday was set on Thursday. Nearly 129,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the virus, according to state health officials.

Michigan is ranked 13th in the U.S. for reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. Michigan is 10th in the nation for reported COVID-19 deaths.
