Michigan Tops 200,000 Coronavirus Cases, 7,500 Deaths Friday

MICHIGAN — The state of Michigan has surpassed 200,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, health officials said Friday.

Michigan reported 3,763 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the statewide case total to 201,569. The state also reported 43 more COVID-19 deaths, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 7,513.

Michigan had reported record breaking numbers for single-day coronavirus increases on Wednesday and Thursday. As of Saturday, the state reported more than 121,000 people in Michigan had recovered from the virus.

Michigan is 14th in the U.S. in reported cases of the coronavirus, according to the World Health Organization. The state is 10th in the nation in deaths attributed to the virus.

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 10 million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the U.S. COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. have grown beyond 241,000 in the nation, while more than 6.3 million recoveries from the virus have been reported.

Over 49.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. That number includes more than 1.2 million COVID-19 deaths, as well as over 35.1 million COVID-19 recoveries.
