MSP: Agency Handled Over 100 Crashes In Metro Detroit In 24 Hours

METRO DETROIT — Michigan State Police officials said the department handled more than 100 traffic crashes in the Metro Detroit region in the past 24 hours.

The exact number — 103, according to the department — was inflated due to the snowy weather in the area, but did not include simple slide-offs and other calls, officials said.

Metro Detroit did see some snowy weather Wednesday, but nothing too crazy, according to the National Weather Service. The area was hit with moderate snow fall through the afternoon after receiving much of the same beginning in Wednesday's early morning hours. The accumulated snow led to some slippery roads.

More snow fell throughout the area in the evening, causing visibility issues and slick roads, according to the agency.

Detroiters can expect more of the same today, with lingering flurries and light accumulation around shoreline areas, according to the National Weather Service.
