DETROIT, MI — Michigan State Police officials said they are investigating a freeway shooting that was reported late Tuesday night in the city of Detroit.
According to MSP, troopers were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of I-96, east of M-39, around 10:35 p.m. for a reported shooting. When troopers arrived at the scene they said they found the driver of a Nissan vehicle on the left shoulder being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg by city firefighters.
The driver said he heard gunshots after entering I-96 and M-39 or Greenfield — but he was unsure of the location, according to troopers.
