SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — The Detroit area had some of the worst air quality in the world Friday morning.

Air quality in the Detroit area was unhealthy for sensitive groups, as wildfire smoke from Canada continues to pour into Michigan.

An air quality advisory remains in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until noon Friday.

Officials said conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive groups and urged them to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, keep windows closed overnight and run central air conditioners with high-rate filters.

Residents should also watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness or burning in the nose, throat and eyes.
