DETROIT — A popular rock bar in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood is closing down after 10 ten years.

The UFO Factory, located on Trumbull Avenue across from the old Tiger Stadium, announced it will be shutting down on June 15.

The social media post said co-owners, Dion Fischer, Aliccia Bollig-Fischer and Matthew Bihun "are getting out of the bar/restaurant/venue biz."

"It’s been a real cool time but we are moving on to other projects," Fischer wrote in the post, adding, "It’s time! We will miss the music, art, fun, and the #ufopeople most of all, of course."

Fischer also hinted that something else is already planned for the spot on Trumbull Avenue.

"What’s next to come at 2110 Trumbull??? All will be revealed soon soon soon and fear not if you loved OUR #ufoFACTORY you are likely to be pleased with the next evolution," he said in the post.

The bar opened in 2014 and bounced back after it was forced to temporarily shut down in 2017 when a construction crew working nearby severely damaged part of the building.

Aside from their famous hot dogs, the bar is best known for booking indie rock bands. Here are the final shows planned up until the bar's last day.
