Red Wings Legend Ted Lindsay Dies At 93

The hockey legend helped begin a players union and secure four Stanley Cup championships.

MICHIGAN — A local hockey legend has died. Former Detroit Red Wings player Ted Lindsay died overnight at the age of 93.

Reports say he was in hospice care in Oakland Township.

Most of Lindsay’s career was spent in Detroit and he helped lead them to four Stanley Cup championships.

Lindsay was known for his being part of the Red Wings’ famed Production Line and he later started the movement that eventually gave way to the NHL players union.

Lindsay was known for always being in great physical shape, even in his last years. He worked out three days a week, even into his 90s, WDIV reported.
