Storms Possible Across Detroit Area Friday As Temps Warm Up

Forecasters do not expect any severe weather, but did warn the storms can produce heavy downpours and winds up to 45 miles per hour.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Showers and storms are expected across southeastern Michigan on Friday as temperatures warm up, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service says the storms will develop late in the afternoon Friday when temperatures reach the upper 70s across the region. Forecasters do not expect any severe weather, but did warn the storms can produce heavy downpours and winds up to 45 miles per hour.

The storms should move out of the region by midnight, giving way to a sunny but cooler Saturday, according to the weather service.

Forecasters said Sunday will be sunny with temperatures returning to the 70s. Summer-like heat finally arrives in southeastern Michigan next week as temperatures will reach the upper 80s, according to the weather service.

That mid-week warmup will also bring more showers and storm chances to southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
