Storms Possible Across Detroit Area Monday

Forecasters warned some storms will be strong with winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour and small hail​.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Showers and thunderstorms are expected across southeastern Michigan on Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service says the storms should cross the region sometime after 3 p.m. Monday when highs reach the upper 70s. Forecasters warned some storms will be strong with winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour and small hail.

Most of southeastern Michigan is under a marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather Monday.

Forecasters expect a mostly dry and sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs climbing well into the 80s on Wednesday. The next chance for storms comes Thursday afternoon, according to the weather service.

Rain will stick around in the region Friday and through most of the weekend with below-average temperatures, according to the weather service.
