Thunderstorms, 50 MPH Winds Move Across Southeastern Michigan

SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — Thursday morning kicked off with passing storms rolling through the region, knocking out power for some 20,000 DTE Energy Customers. Read that full story here.
According to the National Weather Service, a Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for Metro Detroit, particularly in the southern part of the region.
Thunderstorms are likely through noon Thursday, according to the forecast. The strongest storms have the best chance of occurring across Lenawee and Monroe counties and could be capable of producing wind gusts to 45 MPH and and possibly hail to a half inch in diameter.

Storm motion will be from the southwest at 50 MPH. The storms will develop in advance of an
approaching cold front, forecasters say.
While storms are expected to persist throughout the weekend, Memorial Day is expected to be a sunny day in the 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy early, then gradual clearing, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday night
Mostly clear, with a low around 53. West wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
Friday
Increasing clouds, with a high near 70. North northwest wind around 6 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
Friday Night
A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
