MICHIGAN — Three lost dogs were found on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit and returned safely to their family, thanks to the help of some Michigan State Troopers and folks on Twitter.

Troopers were dispatched to the area near Forest Avenue in Detroit Tuesday night on the report of a loose dog. When they arrived, they found three scared German Shepards, police said.

With the help of a citizen, troopers were able to coax the three dogs into their patrol cars safely. They then took to Twitter to help find the dogs family.

By Wednesday morning, it was a success and the dogs were returned to their owners.

"Thanks to all of our followers and media partners who pushed out their photos," state police said. "It is these photos that the owners saw their dogs and contacted us. Keep an eye on your pets as these stories usually don’t have a happy ending!"
