Wayne County Woman Accused Of Hit-And-Run At BLM Protest
The woman is accused of hitting one protester and running over another protester's bike.
WAYNE COUNTY, MI — Wayne County prosecutors have accused a Wyandotte woman of a hit-and-run that occurred during a Black Lives Matter protest in June.
Orlene Alberta Jones, 68, has been charged with failing to stop/report a personal injury accident, failure to stop/report a property damage accident and malicious destruction of between $200 and $1,000 worth of property, prosecutors said.
Taylor police officers were dispatched around 7:20 p.m. June 16 to the 23300 block of Goddard Road after the report of a woman being hit by a vehicle during a protest.

Prosecutors said the protesters were walking south on Telegraph Road, crossing and stopping on Goddard, when Jones, driving eastbound on Goddard, drove off, striking a 45-year-old woman from Van Buren Township.
While doing so, Jones also caused another protester to jump off his bike to avoid being hit, prosecutors said. Jones drove over the man's bike, causing extensive damage, prosecutors said.

Jones then drove away from the scene, prosecutors said.
