SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — Michiganders should enjoy the outdoors this weekend as we get a heat wave passing through.

The rain will finally take a break to give us clear to partly-covered skies with temperatures near 80 degrees. By Monday, more showers are in the forecast.

It's not all sunshine though. Some overnight shows are expected to wreck possible havoc on local lakes, created flooding.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Lakeshore Flood Watch, which is in effect from late Friday night through late Saturday night. The water levels of Lake St Clair are currently 60 inches above low water datum. In fact, over the last day, the levels of Lake St Clair along the shoreline of Wayne and Macomb county have been fluctuating between 60 and 62 inches above low water datum, which is at the level where flooding becomes a concern, The National Weather Service warned. East winds are forecast to increase over the lake tonight and persist through the day Saturday.

This may push the levels of Lake St Clair along the Macomb and Wayne County shorelines over 63 inches above low water datum. A worsening of the long term flooding along the lake is possible, forecasters say, leading to new concerns for property flooding along the lakeshore.
