Elementary school teacher allegedly possessed thousands of files of child sex abuse material (theblaze.com) — Parents in Eastpointe should know that a Pleasantview Elementary teacher has been placed on leave after federal and state investigators allegedly found thousands of child sex abuse files linked to him. Authorities say he was arrested returning from Canada, his home was searched in Michigan, and district officials stress they had no prior complaints as the case moves toward a December court hearing.
   

2. Eastpointe tabs Edwin McDonald as next football coach (macombdaily.com) — Eastpointe High School has hired longtime local coach Edwin “Rock” McDonald to revive a struggling Shamrocks football program that’s endured years of losing seasons and low participation. McDonald plans to aggressively recruit students, rebuild roster numbers, and reset the team’s culture as Eastpointe drops into the MAC Bronze Division for 2026.
   

3. Alleged drunk driver arrested in Eastpointe with dog hiding in the backseat (wxyz.com) — Eastpointe police recently handled a drunk driving crash near Donald Avenue and Semrau where officers also found a protective dog inside the damaged car. Animal control safely reunited the dog with a sober owner and used the incident to highlight responsible pet care, including free microchipping services currently offered to Eastpointe residents.
   

4. Woman faces murder-conspiracy charge in Macomb Twp. businessman shooting (macombdaily.com) — An Eastpointe man is among three people charged with conspiring to murder a Macomb Township businessman who was previously his sister-in-law’s employer. Prosecutors say the alleged ambush followed suspicions of embezzlement from the victim’s gas-station business, and all three defendants now face serious felony charges and high bonds while awaiting a preliminary court hearing this week.
