Joe Louis Southern Kitchen Opens New Oakland County Location
The restaurant is best known for its Southern-style comfort food and all-day breakfast, including waffles, fluffy pancakes and French toast.

SOUTHFIELD, MI — Joe Louis Southern Kitchen opened a new spot in Oakland County on Tuesday.
The popular breakfast and lunch restaurant opened a new location at 29649 Northwestern Highway in Southfield.
The restaurant is best known for its Southern-style comfort food and all-day breakfast, including waffles, fluffy pancakes and French toast.

The 5,300 square-foot restaurant will also feature a gift shop, which will allow customers to buy an array of Joe Louis merchandise, like t-shirts and hats. The gift shop is expected to open in January 2026.
"My father’s legacy is so strong throughout Detroit and the surrounding communities, we’re excited to feature commemorative items for purchase at our checkout counter – offering people the chance to take home a piece of that legacy after sharing a delicious meal together," Joe Louis Southern Kitchen and son of the boxing legend Joe Louis Barrow II said. "Patrons who come to our new restaurant in Southfield will truly experience the spirit of Joe Louis while they’re here and it’s inspiring to be the one sharing that with the world."

Joe Louis Southern Kitchen opened its first location at 6549 Woodward Avenue in Midtown in 2021. The Southfield location is the restaurant's second spot. They are also planning to expand into downtown Detroit next spring.
"We are very pleased to welcome Joe Louis Southern Kitchen to our lineup of Southfield eateries," Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver said. "This is a great addition to the variety of dining options for our residents, business folks, and visitors."
The Southfield location will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
