Oakland County Restaurant Abruptly Closes

The upbeat and hip restaurant is best known for its burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of sides.

FERNDALE, MI β€” Bobcat Bonnie's is closing down its Ferndale restaurant after more than seven years.

The restaurant's final day will be Monday, June 2. It will open at 11 a.m. and shut down for good at 10 p.m. or until they run out of food, whichever comes first, the owner said.

The abrupt announcement comes as a string of Bobcat Bonnie’s have recently closed across metro Detroit, including its flagship spot in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood in March.

In those closings, the owner cited recent restaurant challenges and struggles that were primarily caused by the pandemic and a tough business climate with a downward trend in sales.

"I am so lucky and so blessed to have been a part of such a great community," the owner said in a social media post. "After Corktown 'wink'- Ferndale is one of the best neighborhoods in the Detroit area. We are so lucky to have been a part of it."

For the gastropub's last day Monday, all drinks, including beers will be $5, but food will stay at its normal price. The owner did ask if those attending could pay with cash.

On Tuesday, the owner said the restaurant will have the "BIG BOBCAT SALE," which tables, chairs, glassware and more will be on sale at the Ferndale location.

The upbeat and hip restaurant is best known for its burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of sides.

"Thank you Ferndale for truly changing so many of our lives," the owner said in the post. "And thank you for changing mine- and building my confidence to be myself without wavering. It is so empowering to live in this community."

The only remaining Bobcat Bonnie’s location is in Lansing.
