Caribou Coffee Reopens In Metro Detroit, More Spots Planned

A popular coffee shop that closed in 2013 reopened​ Monday in metro Detroit.

The coffeehouse will also have breakfast sandwiches, baked goods and other snacks.​ The shop is roughly 600 square feet​ and only has a drive-thru and pick-up window, no indoor seating.

FERNDALE, MI — A popular coffee shop that closed in 2013 reopened Monday in metro Detroit.

Caribou Coffee, known for their signature handcrafted coffee and other beverages, such as mochas, Caribou coolers and teas, opened a drive-thru location Monday at 22134 Woodward Ave. in Ferndale.

The coffeehouse will also have breakfast sandwiches, baked goods and other snacks. The shop is roughly 600 square feet and only has a drive-thru and pick-up window, no indoor seating.

The coffeehouse will be open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The coffee shop was brought back by a brand under Panera Brands, which also includes Panera Bread and Einstein Bros Bagels.

The Ferndale location is the first and only spot in metro Detroit. A second Caribou Coffee is planned to open in January in Allen Park, according to a news release.

There are other Michigan locations in Grand Rapids, Marquette, Battle Creek and Stevensville. Future spots are also planned to open throughout Michigan, according to a news release.

Caribou Coffee was founded in 1992 in Minneapolis and currently has over 750 locations around the world.
