Man Maced After Parking Altercation; Brick Thrown Into Apartment

The following incidents are from recent Ferndale Police Department reports.

Man sprayed with Mace

A man was sprayed with Mace in the Western Market parking lot around 4:37 p.m. Feb. 12 after a parking altercation with another driver, according to a police report.

The man who said he was sprayed told police he had backed his vehicle out of his parking space when a red truck began to back up and the driver of the red truck blew his horn at the man. The man said he got out of his car and confronted the driver in the red truck and asked him "What's your problem?" He told police the driver of the red truck then sprayed him with Mace before quickly exiting the lot.

According to the report, police recognized the description of the red truck and went to the resident's house and asked him about the incident. The report states the resident admitted to spraying the man with Mace and said he felt threatened because the man was leaning into his car window and he didn't know whether the man was armed or what he would do next. He told police he blew his horn to acknowledge he saw the other driver.

Brick thrown into window

A resident reported that a brick was thrown into the window of an apartment on the 1300 block of Nine Mile Road just after midnight on Feb. 13.

The resident told police he thought the noise was from someone was shooting into the windows trying to break in, according to the report. Officers found a brick on the ground and determined no shots were fired. The resident was unable to provide any suspect information. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Plate stolen from car

A license plate was reported stolen from a car on the 1500 block of E. Chesterfield in Ferndale on Feb. 13, according to a police report.

Police said an unknown suspect stole the Michigan license plate from a Honda while it was parked in the driveway of the home on Feb. 12. When the resident went to his car the next morning, he found the plate was missing. The resident did not suspect anyone in particular of the theft.
