The future of Flint is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Aiden Rabideau, who are making a positive impact in and around Flint.

Aiden, an Eagle Scout from nearby Grand Blanc, has made a significant impact on the Humane Society of Genesee County with his creative and compassionate service project, which he completed in September 2024. Inspired by a visit to the shelter, Aiden noticed a need for dog beds and decided to take action. He repurposed recycled tires to create 12 comfortable beds for the shelter’s dogs, working alongside nine fellow scouts to complete the project over the summer.

Aiden sourced the tires from U.S. 23 Auto Care, whose owner, a former scoutmaster, was happy to support the project. The beds, now placed in the shelter’s cages, provide much-needed comfort for the dogs, helping them feel more secure while they await adoption.

David Schmieder, executive director of the Humane Society and a former Boy Scout, praised Aiden’s initiative in an article published by Mid-Michigan Now.

“We don’t get funds from any national, state, or other local organizations … so these kind of things help us a lot,” said Schmieder.

Aiden’s dedication to improving the lives of shelter animals demonstrates his compassion, ingenuity, and leadership. His project not only brought comfort to the dogs but also inspired others in the community to recognize the power of thoughtful action in making a difference.

Congratulations, Aiden Rabideau!
