1. Search continues for suspect that left 2 dogs for dead in Genesee Co. (wnem.com) — Residents are being urged to help identify whoever dumped two dogs at a Flint Golf Club pond, a case now highlighted on a Crime Stoppers billboard along North Dort Highway. One dog, Ringo, was euthanized, while Star is recovering in a sanctuary as Genesee County Animal Control pushes neighbors to report suspected neglect and cruelty.

The seventh annual survey also highlights needs around youth fitness, arts and culture, and health, helping guide where future grant funding could make the biggest impact locally.
   

3. Celebrate 100 Years of Pet Rescue in Flint (wcrz.com) — Flint and Genesee County animal lovers are invited today to celebrate 100 years of local pet rescue by the Humane Society of Genesee County, now based in Burton. The shelter’s anniversary open house runs January 8 from 3–7 p.m. with a 3:30 ribbon-cutting, while Cars 108 in Flint continues helping feature adoptable pets through its Tuesday Tails segment.
   

4. McLaren Flint helps add LINAC Treatment to Memorial Healthcare in Owosso (midmichigannow.com) — McLaren Flint has invested nearly $6 million in a new high-tech radiation machine to expand cancer treatment options at Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center in Owosso. The Varian TrueBeam LINAC is now operational, offering shorter, more precise treatments that better protect healthy tissue. This partnership means Flint-area patients and neighbors have improved access to advanced cancer care closer to home.
   

5. New Documentary Film Tells the Story of the Ongoing Effort to Restore the Lake Sturgeon Population in the Saginaw Bay System (clarecountycleaver.net) — A new 23-minute documentary showcases efforts to restore threatened lake sturgeon in the Saginaw Bay system, including releases into several regional rivers. The project is backed in part by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation of Flint, highlighting how local philanthropy is supporting a major Great Lakes conservation success story.
