• Trinity, MyMichigan Health pledge to offer hepatitis B vaccine at birth (freep.com subscription) — Newborns delivered at hospitals serving Gaylord will still be offered a hepatitis B shot within 24 hours of birth, despite a new federal advisory panel recommendation to delay the vaccine. Major Michigan health systems, including Munson and others covering Gaylord, say decades of data show the birth dose is safe and crucial, and state health officials strongly disagree with the federal panel’s change.
