2 Kids Among 4 Dead In Kent County Likely Murder-Suicide: DPS

Four people, including two children, are dead in what appeared to be a murder-suicide in Wyoming, Michigan, authorities said.

WYOMING, MI — Four people, including two children, are dead in what authorities called a likely murder-suicide attempt in Wyoming, Michigan, authorities said.

City public safety officers found a man, woman and two girls dead with gunshot wounds around 4 a.m. Tuesday at a Godfrey Avenue Southwest home, near Burton Street, the department said in a news release obtained by Patch. A relative of the victims who went into the home called police.

Three other kids who were in the home at the time of the shootings were not physically harmed, authorities said.

Preliminary evidence showed the man shot the woman and kids and then took his own life, police said.

A motive wasn't immediately known, and the names of the victims weren't immediately released. A gun was found in the home. Authorities do not believe there is any further danger to the public.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims," Lt. Brian Look of the public safety department said.

Wyoming is about 4 miles south of Grand Rapids in Kent County.
