Here are the top stories in Grand Rapids today:

  1. Kent County deputies are searching for a suspect in an armed bank robbery on Thursday morning at the Lake Michigan Credit Union at 860 84th St. SW. The robber presented a note and fled with an unknown amount of money before deputies arrived. Police say the suspect was about 50 years old, 5’10” tall with a medium build, and described as having a darker complexion, though he had a large patch of lighter-pigmented skin on the left side of his neck.   2. A new theater will be filling the empty space at the Woodland Mall. Phoenix Theatres is currently renovating the 14-screen theater to create what they're calling a "premiere movie experience." The theater, which is anticipated to open next spring, will feature reclining theater seats, a 4-K projection system, and a new sound system. (WZZM13.com)
  3. The "Feel Good Fridge" project is coming to Grand Rapids and aims to improve access to fresh food in West Michigan and across the country. (WOODTV.com)
  4. City crews are briefly closing the 6th Street Bridge in Grand Rapids through the weekend, after a car hit the guardrail. (WZZM13.com)
