Faculty members at Cornerstone University held a no-confidence vote against the school’s newly inaugurated leader, Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, one day ahead of his swearing-in as the university’s 12th president. A spokesman with Cornerstone University confirmed the vote took place last Thursday, the day before Dr. Moreno-Riaño was inaugurated. (Fox17)
  2. The Grand Rapids City Commission has accepted a $4.63 million grant for homelessness assistance and supportive services. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME Investment Partnerships – American Rescue Plan has offered about three times more than Grand Rapids’ annual award from the HOME-ARP program.   3. After an absence of two years, Opera Grand Rapids returned to Devos Performance Hall with Don Giovanni. Times had changed; an attendant confirmed COVID-19 vaccination or the results of a recent negative test, and masks were required throughout the performance. (The Rapidian)
  4. Spiderman and Black Panther were in Grand Rapids today! The superheroes are part of the hospital's annual Halloween tradition that visitors look forward to each year. Patients and staff were able to enjoy a live superhero movie inside Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, as Spiderman rappelled down the side of the tall glass building.
