Here are the top stories in Grand Rapids today:

  1. The Kent County Health Department is providing free walk-in HIV testing in observance of the 40th anniversary of World AIDS Day on Wednesday. Certified test counselors will be at the main clinic, located at 700 Fuller Ave. NE, to provide testing, answer questions, and connect residents with needed services from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. World AIDS Day is observed annually on Dec. 1 and is an opportunity for people to show support for those living with HIV, and remember those who have died.   2. One person was shot in the ankle on Tuesday in Grand Rapids. The shooting occurred at around 12:15 in the afternoon, on Prince Street SE near Kalamazoo Avenue. The Grand Rapids Police Department do not yet have any information about who was responsible, but they say the victim's injury is not considered life-threatening. (WOODTV.com)
  3. Uptown Grand Rapids is hosting A Season of Shop Hop again this year, running now through Dec. 24. (WOODTV.com)

Grand Rapids Community College is participating in a new statewide scholarship program, The Michigan Equity, Courage, Hope and Opportunity Scholarship (MI ECHO), that offers free college tuition to essential pandemic workers who don’t qualify for other federal financial aid programs.
