Dear Students, Families, and Staff,On Friday, August 13, 2021, the Kent County Health Department issued another warning about the surge of COVID-19 with the Delta variant. They reiterated their strong recommendation for masks to be worn indoors for all students, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status.Based on this latest guidance and the recent CDC announcement placing Kent County in the “substantial risk” category, GRPS is now requiring masks to be worn by all PK-12 students, staff, and visitors indoors in all district schools and buildings, regardless of age or vaccination status. The only exception is for students and staff with medical conditions that impede their ability to wear a mask. This new indoor universal masking requirement starts on Tuesday, August 17 and will be revisited on or before September 20, 2021. We will continue to work closely with our county health officials throughout this time and monitor the data to determine if it will be extended further. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we continue to navigate this uncertain and ever-changing time. Sincerely,Leadriane Roby, Ph.D.Superintendent of Schools
