Here are the top stories today in Grand Rapids:

  1. Organizers announced Monday that the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum’s Holiday Train will be returning this season. The display will be open to the public from Nov. 22 through Jan. 2 with special pricing while the train is on display. Tickets must be purchased online in advance and cost $8 for adults. Children 17 and under are free. (Fox17)
  2. Salvation Army of Kent County is offering Christmas assistance to those in need. Among their services, the Salvation Army is offering new, unwrapped toys that were collected from the Angel Tree Toy Drive and grocery store gift cards. Applications must be submitted by Dec. 3 by applying online or calling (616) 459-9468. Late applications can also be submitted by calling. (WZZM13.com)
  3. The $40M Amway Grand Plaza Hotel renovation, which has been in progress since Jan. 2019, is finally complete. (WOODTV.com)
  4. Ice skating season at the Rosa Parks Circle has been put on pause due to construction delays on the restoration of Maya Lin’s Ecliptic. (WZZM13.com)
  5. Denny McNees, the man who attacked a child with a utility knife in the Grand Rapids’ Black Hills neighborhood in early 2020, was sentenced Monday to between 15 and 50 years in prison for an attempted murder charge. (WOODTV.com)
