Here are the top stories in Grand Rapids today:
- A man has been sentenced to serve time in prison in connection to the 2020 killing of a Grand Rapids man. Javonte Robinson was sentenced to serve a minimum of 27 years and a maximum of life, court records show. The case stems from the killing of Tony Lamarr Stewart on Jan. 3, 2020. Stewart was shot in the parking lot of a liquor store on Grand Rapids’ southeast side and died two days later. Robinson was arrested later that month on weapons and resisting and obstructing charges; he was formally charged with murder in May 2020. (WOODTV.com)
- John Ball Zoo's annual Zoo Goes Boo event opened this weekend just in time for the spooky season. The outing offers trick-or-treating, themed inflatables, and 13 treat stations for children. Zoo Goes Boo will continue this weekend; purchasing tickets in advance is recommended. (Fox17)
