1. Hundreds took part in the Merchants and Makers Holiday Market Sunday afternoon in Grand Rapids. “It’s an opportunity for people to shop local,” said the owner of Merchants and Makers Shyle Lyons. There were nearly 100 local pop-up shops featuring their products at the Farmers Market on Fulton Street this afternoon. (WOODTV.com)

Grand Rapids Community College’s Native American Student Organization (NASO) is hosting an event in partnership with the GRCC Secchia Institute for Culinary Education to share Anishinaabe history and culture as part of The Decolonizing Diet Project Culinary speaker events. 3. Grand Rapids is hosting a virtual meet-and-greet Wednesday evening for people to learn more about the city’s new Cure Violence program and the team behind it. Cure Violence is a model of treating violence as an epidemic, which is designed to proactively address and thwart violence.
