- Police established a perimeter in Grand Rapids’ Madison neighborhood on Monday afternoon as they looked for the person responsible for a shooting. The Grand Rapids Police Department said one person was shot. However, their sustained injuries were not considered life-threatening. (WOODTV.com)
- Michigan State Police say a man was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital to treat life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a truck. The 23-year-old man from Holland was seriously injured after the crash in Grand Rapids. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post reported a BMW lost control on a wet road and spun around after crashing into a cement wall; the driver then got out of the car and was hit by a Buick going west. - During October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the color purple will be displayed across Grand Rapids in an effort to show support for victims as, during the COVID-19 pandemic, local sheriff’s officials report an increase in domestic violence calls. (MLive)
