1. Police established a perimeter in Grand Rapids’ Madison neighborhood on Monday afternoon as they looked for the person responsible for a shooting. The Grand Rapids Police Department said one person was shot. However, their sustained injuries were not considered life-threatening. (WOODTV.com)
2. Michigan State Police say a man was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital to treat life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a truck. The 23-year-old man from Holland was seriously injured after the crash in Grand Rapids. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post reported a BMW lost control on a wet road and spun around after crashing into a cement wall; the driver then got out of the car and was hit by a Buick going west. 3. During October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the color purple will be displayed across Grand Rapids in an effort to show support for victims as, during the COVID-19 pandemic, local sheriff’s officials report an increase in domestic violence calls. (MLive)
