Here are the top stories in Grand Rapids today:

  1. The 29th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is returning in-person to downtown Grand Rapids this year, after being held virtually last year due to the pandemic. Participants can register now for the race, which will start outside the Van Andel Arena, at 130 Fulton St., at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25. Proceeds from the annual 5K run and walk will help offset the cost of operating after-school sports programs at GRPS by allowing the district to avoid using a “pay-to-play” program. (mlive.com)
  2. Grand Rapids police arrested a suspect in the shooting death of 21-year-old Kentwood man, Travon Jeffrey-Jamont Seawood. Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Grand Rapids resident Harold Martell Brewer II, who is currently being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility. Brewer was arrested Monday for unrelated charges and has subsequently been charged with one count of murder, two counts of assault with intent to kill, two counts of felony firearms, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.   3. Stan’s Tacos will be opening in downtown Grand Rapids on Nov. 29, however customers will only be able to place delivery or takeout orders. (WOODTV.com)
  4. Grand Rapids Public Schools is canceling school on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 for “COVID-19 wellness days." (MLive.com)
  5. Officials have determined the three people, including a 4-month-old, who were found dead in a car in Grand Rapids died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. (WOODTV.com)
