Trump, Vance To Hold Rally In Michigan Saturday
It will be the former president's first rally with Ohio Sen. JD Vance after picking him to be his running mate.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and vice presidential nominee Ohio Sen. JD Vance will visit Michigan on Saturday, according to campaign officials.
Trump plans to hold a rally at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon, according to campaign officials.
It will be the former president's first rally after accepting the Republican nomination and one week after a gunman tried to assassinate Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. It will also be his first rally with Vance.

Trump is expected to speak at the campaign event at 5 p.m., according to campaign officials.
"Joe Biden’s failed policies have left a path of death and destruction in Michigan," a statement from the Trump campaign said. "President Trump will ease the financial pressures placed on households and re-establish law and order in Michigan."

Trump is expected to accept the Republican nomination for president Thursday at the Republican National Convention, which opened Monday with numerous delegates nominating Trump for president and Vance for vice president.
Trump last visited Michigan in mid-June when he campaigned at a Turning Point Action convention at the Huntington Place in Detroit. Saturday's visit will be his fourth visit to Michigan during this campaign cycle.
Michigan is expected to be a key battleground state and could play a vital role in the upcoming election.
In 2020, President Joe Biden won Michigan by about 147,000 votes, or 3 percentage points (51 percent to 48 percent) over Trump. But Trump won Michigan in 2016 when he narrowly beat Democrat Hillary Clinton 10,704 votes or 47.5 percent to 47.3 percent. It was also the first time a Republican nominee had won Michigan since George H.W. Bush in 1988.
Biden campaigned in Detroit last Friday, making it the fourth time the incumbent president has visited Michigan this year. Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Battle Creek and Kalamazoo on Wednesday.
