Here are the top stories today in Grand Rapids:
- There are numerous road closures planned in Grand Rapids on Saturday morning for the 44th Amway River Bank Run. Some of the road closures downtown could begin as early as 2 a.m. and roads in neighborhoods on the city’s West Side will close around 7 a.m. Most of the closures will be lifted by or before 2 p.m., aside from the downtown road closures which won’t lift until after 2 p.m. (MLive.com)
- A single-vehicle crash took out several power lines early Wednesday morning in southeast Grand Rapids. The crash, which happened just before 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Oakhill St. SE and Kalamazoo Ave. SE, knocked out power to a neighborhood and closed the road for several hours. The Grand Rapids Police Department said one person was taken to the hospital and believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. (WZZM13.com)
- A nonprofit group, Beyond26, is expanding their efforts connecting those with special needs to long-term job placement. (Fox17)
