Annual Mom-to-Mom Sale Expected to Draw Hundreds to the War Memorial This Weekend
The Mom-to-Mom Sale will be held from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. this Saturday. Admission is $2 per person. The Grosse Pointe War Memorial is located at 32 Lakeshore Drive.
Calling all moms (and dads): If you're looking to stock up on essentials for your kids, and not break the bank, you might want to check out this weekend's Mom-to-Mom Sale at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.
Now in its fifth year, the sale brings in a consistent number of shoppers - an upwards of 600 - all looking to reel inΒ those steep bargains.
"It's been very consistent as far as sellers and buyers go -Β the quantity and quality as well -Β so we've been very pleased with that," said Julia Leiter, Programming Coordinator at the War Memorial.
Because the event has been so popular in the past, the War Memorial has opened up the event; it willΒ take place across theΒ entire facility. However even though the event is bigger, organizers are reminding shoppers that no strollers will be allowed during the Mom-to-Mom Sale due to safety concerns and space limitations.
Shoppers can expect to find huge savings on children's clothing, toys, games, books, video, furniture and more. Many of these items can be purchased for just a few dollars and so the carrying of small bills for buying is greatlyΒ encouraged. Tote bags are also recommended since shopping bags are not provided.
According to Leiter, big-ticket items such including strollers, cribs and car seats fly off the shelves so early attendance is crucial.
"It's a one stop shop that will guarantee that you'll go home with bags full of treasures," said Wanda Claes, Director of Lifelong Learning at the War Memorial.
