Fan Starts Campaign to Buy Detroit Lions
GoFundMe.com campaign set up to raise $1.4 billion and purchase the team.

If youβre a Detroit Lions fan, you have long suffered.
The teamβs last championship was before John F. Kennedy was President of the United States, and based on the teamβs 1-6 start to this season, it seems likely this streak of futility will continue.
Fans have blamed quarterbacks, running backs, defensive backs and every other position on the field.
Theyβve blamed coaches, coordinators and scouts.

But none have garnered as much blame as the teamβs longtime owners β the Ford family.
Since 1963, the team has been part of the Ford familyβs empire, which does include the automaker.

William Clay Ford Sr. purchased the team in 1963 for a robust $4.5 Million, and when and if the family decides to sell the team itβll create a profit that can be counted in the hundreds-of-millions of dollars.
The team is estimated to be worth about $1.4 billion according to Forbes Magazine.
For years, for decades in fact, many fans have clung to the belief that if the team changes ownership, itβs fortunes will also change.
Lions fan Jeff Tarnowski has decided to take action on this belief.
According to a CBSSports.com report, Tarnowski has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $1.4 billion and purchase the Detroit Lions.
His βLetβs Buy the Lionsβ campaign has garnered much attention since he started it Tuesday Oct. 27, but has only mustered $930 as of press time.
βLetβs face it: The Detroit Lions need a new owner. Iβm not going to rant, we all know the situation. Somebody needs to do something about this monstrosity. I am willing to make that sacrifice for all of you before this Honolulu Blue blood is no longer inherited by our offspringβ¦β Tarnowski posted on the page.
Should his campaign fall short, he promises to donate the money to local charities.
βAt the end of the day, if the Fordβs reject my gracious offer to spare them from the witch hunt that is brewing in the D, then weβll at least get some serious money for Detroit charitiesβ¦β
