FBI Warns Scam Emails Look Like Official Correspondence
Michigan residents along with others nationwide were targeted in recent email attempt.

The Detroit Office of the FBI issued a warning today of an fraudulent email sent to Michigan residents that may appear as if its legitimate.
The warning issued by Detroit Special Agent Sandra Berchtold explains that the letter in the email uses a copy of the FBI's official seal and Director Robert Mueller's name in an attempt to make readers believe it's real.Β
The email asks recipients to contact the Department of Homeland Security and send $350 for a clearance certificate, warning of legal action, according to the release.
The FBI does not send out e-mails soliciting personal information or money from citizens.
