Five things to get your day started in Grosse Pointe.

Here are a few items that may help you get your day started. 

1. The day is expected to start out dry and sunny reaching highs in the 80s but an increasing chance of thunderstorms will move in during the evening, according to National Weather Service. Lows tonight are expected to be in the 60s. 

2. Grosse Pointe Public School Board will hold its public hearing tonight at 7 p.m. in Grosse Pointe South's library concerning the 2011/2012 fiscal year budget, which the board has been working on for several months. A budget is expected to be passed tonight and those wishing to share opinions will have the opportunity to do so tonight.

3. Want to help a local business? Here's your chance: The 2011 Detroit A-list is currently collecting votes for businesses throughout the metro area and in Grosse Pointe Woods is being considered for Best Pet Supplies category. You can vote here if you'd like to help them jump to first place. Voting ends Aug. 12. 

4. Stop by tonight for a music break. The restaurant's live music Mondays is featuring the Brian Cleary Quartet, playing jazz standards, be-bop, dixieland, and jump blues. The show starts at 8 p.m. and cover is $5.

5. Congrats to the many little league teams who finished their season this past weekend. Here is the wrap up of one game and there will be more to come today on Patch from other teams.
