Grosse Pointe Shores Resident Shares Opinion
Resident backs council's decision to have agenda items submitted to mayor or city manager, which he says is way to open communication among council.

To the Editor,Β
I was sorry to see negative comments printed on Patch and in the Grosse Pointe News recently with material inaccuracies. Specifically, letters sent to the editors relative to Grosse Pointe Shores, which in addition to the usual petty name calling, misrepresented the facts related to the Council's recent "unanimous" acceptance and approval of a sensible motion to improve efficiencies and encourage open communication between council members, the administration and the public.
The purpose of the agenda protocol motion was initiated after failed attempts by some council members to propose what turned out to be inappropriate or incomplete ideas. This resulted in unnecessary misunderstandings and wasted time, which they all agreed should be avoided if possible in the future. Hence, the unanimous approval of the motion language they properly debated and ultimately all agreed to.

There has been a small, consistently contrarian faction in Grosse Pointe Shores for well over a decade now. They seldom offer anything in the way of constructive suggestions. However, they never seem to fail at seizing any opportunity they can think of to embarrass or disparage the dedicated, unpaid, volunteer elected officials and city employees who don't always agree with the negative tactics, harsh criticism and extreme cost cutting demands, that are lobbed in like hand grenades, on a regular basis.
