Grosse Pointe South Girls Basketball Team to Battle Marian

Can the Grosse Pointe South girls basketball team make a return trip to the Breslin Center?

Everyone will learn the answer on Tuesday when the Blue Devils take on Bloomfield Hills Marian in a Class A state quarterfinal at Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.

At stake is a trip to the state semifinals at Michigan State’s Breslin Center.

Grosse Pointe South advanced to the final four last year, winning in the semifinals and dropping a heartbreaker to Grand Haven in the state final.

This year, the Blue Devils appear primed for a return visit to East Lansing. They enter Tuesday night’s game with a 23-1 overall record.

But first Grosse Pointe South will have to defeat a Marian squad with a 21-3 record.
