Juniors from , the next district's set of seniors, improved their proficiency in several subjects this year, according to the results of the Michigan Merit Exam released by the Michigan Department of Education.Â
The MME, as it's commonly referred to, is a standardized test that measures the proficiency of students in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. It's taken by eleventh graders rather than the Michigan Educational Assessment Program test and is administered in March.
The results show Grosse Pointe upped its scores in nearly every category as compared to last year and is well above the proficiency rate statewide in all of the subjects. The results also include ACT scores, which remained steady from 2010 at 23 while the statewide average is 19.3.Â
