Christmas Bazaar will assist Oakland County Sheriff Deputy Eric Overall's family

Proceeds from an event originally intended to support the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center will instead benefit the family of Oakland County Sheriff Deputy Eric Overall, killed in the line of duty Thanksgiving day.

All money earned from the bake sale portion of the animal shelter’s annual Christmas Bazaar will help support Deputy Sheriff Eric Overall’s family as they grieve this holiday season. The bazaar, scheduled from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, takes place at the at the Oakland County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 42 East, Pontiac.

“We’re asking the public to come out to support Deputy Overall’s family who are facing the many challenges that come with losing a loved one,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said in a release. “When the baked goods sell out, the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center will certainly accept donations for Deputy Overall’s family.”

In addition to the bake sale, the Christmas Bazaar features booths where more than 30 local crafters will offer a wide range of wares, including Christmas ornaments, wood and metal art pieces, essential oils and objects perfect for pet lovers. The event will also look to provide a few lucky shelter pets with forever homes - dogs and cats at the bazaar will all be available for adoption. Misty, pictured in a festive holiday box, is one such pet, a cat currently available for adoption at the shelter in Pontiac.
