Police Blotter: Prescription Drugs Taken in Burglary

The following information is gathered from the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

police are investigating the break-in of a pharmacy in which it's believed four young men forced their way into a rear door July 25. The break-in happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 15100 block of Kercheval Avenue. The men stole a variety of prescription medications, according to a report.

Arrests

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested two Detroit juveniles July 30 shortly after 6 p.m. near Maryland and Kercheval. The juveniles approached another juvenile, one placed him in a headlock and the other stole cash from his pant pockets. The victim was able to give police a good description, which aided in their arrest a short time later. Both juveniles, ages 12 and 14, were taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center.

Thefts

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating four bicycle thefts. The first was reported July 24 in the 15400 block of Kercheval; then July 25 in the 1100 block of Balfour; July 29 in Windmill Pointe Park; and July 29 to July 31 in the 1300 block of Grayton.

Similarly, Park police are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles that began July 26 and continued through July 29. In the first case, an iPod Touch was taken from the front seat of a SUV in the 1200 block of Devonshire; an iPod Touch from a truck in the 1300 block of Balfour; silver and $5 in change were taken from a SUV in the 1300 block of Somerset; a purse with cash, credit cards and other items was stolen from an unlocked car in the 1000 block of Whittier Road; and lastly a bank debit card was stolen from a car, whose lock had been broken, in the 1300 block of Wayburn.

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the damage of several vehicles as well as one that was stolen between July 25-29. A 2011 Chrysler Town & Country was stolen from the 1400 block of Beaconsfield between July 25-29. The thief used keys found in the garage to steal the vehicle. In other cases, the locks of vehicles were damaged due to prying in the following locations: 1300 block of Wayburn and 1300 Buckingham. In another case, a resident heard the alarm on her 2005 Chevy Tahoe sound and spotted two men in her SUV. The men drove from the scene in the 1400 block of Wayburn in a white sedan, according to reports.

In another theft, a resident in the 1400 block of Somerset reported that a window-unit air conditioner was stolen overnight July 24 when a back door had been left unlocked. A generator was stolen from the backyard of a house in the 1400 block of Wayburn overnight July 25, according to reports.
