Sewer Line Vandalism Damages Kerby Fieldhouse
Grosse Pointe Farms police are investigating the intentional blocking of sewer lines leading to the Kerby Fieldhouse and drainage areas of the playground. Police received reports of a sewage backup from people trying to use the restrooms about 7 p.m. on July 14 during a baseball tournament. A plumber was called to the scene and after he declared his equipment wouldn't clear the lines, officials discovered pea gravel and a sandbag had been placed in the lines. The location indicates that a person had to open a manhole cover and put the items in the area intentionally. The fieldhouse will have to be cleaned and sanitized after the plumbing issues are resolved, according to the police report.
